Troop 96 is sponsored by The Peoples Community Baptist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The late Reverend T.J. Baltimore, Sr. had the vision of providing the youth of the People’s Community Baptist Church (TPCBC) with organizations that would build strong character and citizenship. He selected scouting—Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts—as three of the organizations to fulfill his vision and prepare young people to make ethical choices about their lives and build a personal relationship with God, family and community.
In 1992 and 1993, the TPCBC was utilized as the chartering organization to establish Cub Scout Pack 96, Boy Scout Troop 96 and the Daisy, Brownie, Junior and Cadette Girl Scout Troops. In 1994, the late Deacons George Sandidge and Bill Wilson along with Eugene Wolfe took key roles to help establish Pack and Troop 96.
Today the Pack and Troop continues to enjoy the strong support of TPCBC through the leadership of Pastor Haywood A. Robinson, III who believes in the values of God and Scouting.
